Getting ready to sell either one or both of my WD 80gb SE drives and was looking for a utility to wipe them.

I came across autoclave ( http://staff.washington.edu/jdlarios/autoclave/ ), however it's horribly slow, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like something on par with this as far as the security is concerned.

Thanks =)

Autoclave is about the same speed as most of the other HDD wiping programs. Sorry, but it's going to take quite some time :)

The lab staff at the Information School at University of Washington uses the Ultimate Boot CD (freeware) to wipe hard drives. The Ultimate Boot CD has several tools for wiping hard drives besides Autoclave that you could try:
  • Active@ KillDisk Free Edition 3.1
    Darik's Boot and Nuke 1.0.3
    PC INSPECTOR e-maxx

It also has partition tools, boot managers, cloning tools, memory tests, etc. A great toolkit gathered on one CD!
