is it really hard to become a mechanic? i mean i really wanna wrench and get dirty and crap like that. would be going to some kind of tech school worth it?

i plan to get my associates of arts in liberal arts, and then either go into my community college's auto mech program or go to my uni and major in one of the following:

psychology
computer science
english

Liberal Arts and Auto Mechanics is generally a fork in the road for most people, not merging traffic.

If you want to be a mechanic, get ASE master certified. There are 7 tests ( atleast there were when I did them ) and you must have 2 years under your belt @ a workplace.

UTI is a good starting place. They offered me 2 years of the 3 free because I placed second in the state in high school in the Ford Triple AAA automotive challenge. No, I didn't take them up on it. I went to ISU and got drunk instead :)
