Ohio got an 11. :(

-Mandatory theft reporting of all firearms
-Mandatory reporting by firearm owners
-Must be 21
-Employers not forced to allow firearms on premises
-Colleges are not forced to allow firearms on campus

Those are where Ohio earned points.

Those I am actually okay with.

But since Ohio State does not permit weapons on campus, having a CCW (as I live and do just about everything on campus) is just about worthless, as yes... I will abide by the weapons laws even if I disagree with them. Especially with all the nancy bullshit regarding weapons, don't want a simple issue ruining my life.

However, only one more quarter on campus so once I graduate I'll probably look into getting a permit and picking up S&W. Not sure yet, maybe a .40? Probably just to keep in the apartment or in the vehicle. Might look into a smaller handgun for actually carrying if I decide to go that route.

Nice! They should put that on their websites and promote it, try to attract people looking for freedom.

Oregon got 17 points wrong and scored 17/100. 0/100 is something to envy though.

Just think - if someone were to have told John Hinckley that Jody Foster was attracted to James Brady, we might not have the Brady Campaign.

If Hinkley would have just had better personal gun control, we'd have had the same end result...and fewer Reagan years.
Instead, he went off wildly and hit bystanders.

IMO, that's one of the big issues NOT dealt with by "gun control laws." If you're going to take the responsibility of owning a firearm, you should be required to take classes to learn how to properly use and care for the dammed thing.
This country already has more dammed gun control laws on the books than it needs, but few are actually properly enforced.

Slightly more liberal gun control laws aren't nearly enough to get me to move back to Utah...WAY too many Mormons there for me.
(yes it's true...if you look closely, you can see the horns sticking out of their heads) :p

MOST were pretty good people, but <gasp> as with any religious/ethnic/social grouping, there were good ones and bad ones. The few "good Mormons" I knew were among the finest people I've ever known. The bad ones...were among the lowest forms of snake shit I've ever known...most were somewhere in between, but it's the most discriminatory place I've ever been outside the deep South.

Hey come on. You should be proud! Missouri got 4/100.
i hate missouri. i'm from maryland.

i don't think the lack of gun laws is a good thing. i don't think having a ton of gun laws is a good thing, either. yes, criminals break the law and kill with guns and having laws might not stop them... but some gun laws are useless in protecting innocent lives while some laws are effective. not having ANY gun laws is just dumb. it makes it easier for gun crimes to occur, whether it's in the host state or not. people traffic guns, which makes it easier for criminals in other states to get them.

the goal isn't to make it impossible to get a gun, but to make it more difficult to own a gun if you're not a law-abiding citizen. sometimes, that means law abiding citizens might have to wait a little bit to get a gun. oh, the travesty. some people bitch about wait times to get a gun... are you kidding? that's like bitching about airport security. it's done out of the name of the safety of everyone else so you can enjoy your lives and freedoms. whenever it comes to things that kill people, there's got to be SOME regulation and you gun fanatics have to keep an open mind that if they DIDN'T have certain gun laws (like i said, some laws are good, some are dumb), the lives of you, your friends, and your family might be a little more in danger.

this thread is just stupid and anyone praising states with next to no gun laws is a dumbass.

I think we have enough gun laws right now, we certainly aren't lacking any.

I don't have a wait time to purchase any non-NFA gun, I can go to the store, pick out one I want and take it home immediately - that's the benefit of having a CCL.

Of course, even without a CCL in my state you can just buy from a private seller and there is no wait time with that form of sale either.

This is a good start, but if they could be more progressive on their drug and liquor laws, I would be more impressed. Beautiful topography there, too.

Wow...California sucks. However, this quote, I think, sums up the idiocy that is gun control freaks:

Once again, California holds the top spot with the nation’s strongest gun laws that help combat the illegal gun market

Did I miss something? Because, logic would dictate that stronger gun control laws would FOSTER an illegal gun market, not combat it. Think about it: the more difficult it is to get guns legally, the more likely people will turn to grey and black markets to get them.

Criminals aren't likely to stop and think that their source of weapons might not be legit. They're not going to say "oh shoot, this gun vendor isn't legal...maybe I shouldn't buy a gun to go rob that store." They're going to do it anyway, whether guns are legal or not.

The only people that gun control laws hurt are law-abiding citizens. Mostly by making them more vulnerable to people who aren't going to obey the law regardless of what it says.

does he need to? anyone who looks down on intelligence and calls it "elitism" falls in the category of being ignorant, practically by definition. those who are ignorant are sometimes proud of being ignorant...

seemed pretty cut and dry to me.

"hellhole hillbilly redneck places" is intelligence, not elitism?

Come on eits, give me a break
