***WARNING***

I've been seeing new players coming in or either people using other aliases but here is the warning:

IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS GAME, THE SKILL LEVEL BETWEEN NEW PLAYERS AND "VETERANS" IS HUUUUUUUUUUUGE. THIS IS UN-LIKE ANY FIRST PERSON SHOOTER YOU'VE PLAYED.

  1. FIRST STEP IS TO MASTER WHEN TO USE THE WEAPON YOU HAVE IN YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION ON THE MAP
  2. SECOND RULE IS, YOU DON'T TALK ABOUT FIGHT CLUB

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am creating this thread to help people find active servers to play on.

Please list the servers you play on including the region, time of day most active, the server ip, The Game Style, etc. I made my list by copying and pasting the ip address from my favorite server list through HLSW: http://www.hlsw.org/

The active servers I play at (mostly active between 3pm-12am EST North America) on the weekends they are occasionally busy. If you join, you'll see someone very soon.

Just want to help you before you get discouraged. There will be a HUUUGE gap between new players vs "veterans" It's one of the reasons why I love this game = you actually have to learn and practice this game to get better. There is skill involved. It's been almost 4 yrs and it's good. Really good.

My advice is play UT2k4, a few duel servers survive, UT3 really is an abomination, it represents the future of EPIC which is terrible terrible games

UT3 was a stillbirth, bury it, mourn the once great franchise, and move on.

I agree. UT3 was basically DOA.

The tragedy is that the basic UT3 game play itself isn't bad. It's just everything that surrounds it--the consolized user interface, the shitty server browser, the shitty built-in mapvote, the grungy Gear of War look, the crappy player skins, etc., that killed the game.

Unfortunately, there really isn't anything to move on to. The entire genre of online multiplayer arena-style FPS has disappeared--essentially squandered by Epic and Id. Our best hope might be to try to promote a resurrection of UT99.

sorry, I tried to play on those servers, but the UI was so horrible I gave up.

Beer Drinkers and a few others use utcomp for any ingame functions like map voting, kicking people out, skin color, sound effects, etc. I've found that the sounds will give a delay/lag due to the RTT

A reminder, the skill gap between new players and Veterans is H.U.G.E. most likely you won't win in a duel or DM match so don't blame the game for your lack of skill.

Warriors, come out to play

Anytime somebody posts in a public forum asking people to play the game, you can be sure it's dead.

not true in this case

The last time I played, about six months ago to be fair, I played for about 6 hours over the course of Fri/Sat/Sun during prime hours and came across less than ten real humans. The rest of the servers were just filled with bots. I guess that is fine if you want to duel the same people over and over again, but not really enough for any other mode. Death match ends up sucking as most people just try and crush the bots to get their score higher faster, in order to win.

They realized what a complete mess they'd made of UT3 and how nobody wanted to play it, and in an attempt to "cover up" for the lack of players they made it made it display bots as people in server browser. This made things worse as then most users couldn't find anyone real in any of the so called "populated" servers. To find servers with people you had to configure it to hide empty servers at which point 99% of the servers go away.

i played ut2k4 a lot....it had a community back in my country... ut3 was realised... it died... ut2k4 is still played.

heck, even back then when 2k4 was played there were the WCG and those kind of competitions that used 2k4 for competitive purpouses... with ut3 that didnt happen
