UT3 Instagib CTF replacement? or general future-ish FPS UT3 replacement...

Since GameSpy went offline there's an aftermarket EXE patch that you have to apply that barely works. I also got tired of the consoleized UI that makes you leave the game you're playing, click through 3 menus to get back to the server, and wait for the next map to download; instead of UT99 or UT2004 style where all that happens in the background.

I'd like something with a similar pacing/style to UT3 (e.g., feels like UT99), but with modern graphics.

It just occurred to me that the character models are very similar between UT99, 2004, and this latest UT4, but not in UT3.

The current character models are just placeholders, along with most of the weapons and pickups, etc. It's all a big work in progress. The final models for all of that stuff have yet to be determined. That's why I keep calling it a "(very very) pre-Alpha".

Feels like a refined UT3

The jury's still out on the server browser. That's another big work-in-progress. Part of what's neat about the game is that unlike a game that gets released on STEAM or in a published box, they can continuously update it and make improvements, which I think they intend to do.

nothing stopped them from doing that to UT3, except that they didn't care.

that said, if this is good and lets me server browse and download WHILE I'm playing, I'll forgive them. The gameplay feels exactly like UT3 which is exactly what I want because it feels exactly like UT99
