UT2K4 music stutters

well after installing UT and applying the various patches i get stuttering in game.... it started happening after i installed SP2, i know there are game issues with sp2 but has anyone else had this problem? would an audio driver update fix this? (i cant download latest nforce yet, im in the middle of changing to broadband) also changing the graphics card pci latency doesnt help. whats your diagnosis?

I had a similar problem. I was using the nForce 2 onboard audio and updating the drivers fixed the problem.

Are you using Onboard sound or a sound card? If you're using onboard try using a sound card if you have it, if not upgrade drivers

i updated to latest nforce 5.10 and still no difference....i heard that theres a beta of the next audio driver to be included in a future nforce driver set, anyone tried this?

Have you tried the dedicated Realtek audio drivers? These are the ones that did the trick for me.

yes i have tried the realtek drivers (they did fix UT) but are they of a lower quality? i dont want to sacrifice good quality on other games and bad on one, for 'ok' on all.
