So, why would you ever use the primary fire? Am I right to think that secondary would be better when at range, allowing for more accuracy?

Why not use primary fire when you're up-close-and-personal. I always do. If you can jump around and strafe better than your oppenent while dodging his fire, you're going to be pumping a lot more ammo into him then he will be into you.

At distance, yeah, secondary fire is definitely the viable option.

I hear you there, well the answer is, I try not to use the minigun if I have other guns available :) (Flak Cannon) :)

I hate the flak gun now for some reason. I can't hit jack sh*t, but then that's partly because it's bloody hard to use outside. I like the mini, but I generally play the ONS level very distant from the action, if at all possible. I sit around with my avril and lightning gun and just kill from there. I was doing pretty well in one game yesterday with that tactic, although sometimes I realize that nodes do have to be secured, and sniping can get a bit boring. I also like to get the hellbender, sit it on a hill, and see how long the enemy will let me go at them with gun 3 (generally it's quite a long time).

personally, I like the lightning gun from a distance. when I'm up close and personal, I like to grab one of the vehicles and do some hit and runs.

I use secondary fire against vehicles and slow moving players. More damage, less ammo wasted.

Ugh. I'm not a fan of the lightning gun. The fact that I can't hit sh!t with it may very well be the reason I don't like it. All I know is that I was never that bad with the rail gun.

Rocket launcher is my favourite weapon.

Yep. If I'm outnumbered or really close quarters, primary fire and use the "watering a rosebush" techinque :p. Secondary is for when I get a good line on someone or a vehicle.
