100min wait at minimum from FilePlanet if your not a sunscriber.
I'm pulling 40k/sec from 3DGamers.com link to it... not exactly very fast but it'll do.

Any word on whether the demo supports benchmarking?
I don't care about FPS, so I'm only interested in it as a potential benchmark.

It's on www.nvidia.com too, except it's in 5 zips... well... one zip in 5 volumns. I've never seen zip files have volumns, how do I extract them? I'm getting CRC errors, and I've download them 3 times already....

Heh wow I'm "late" to be one of the first to play this ... damn I've been waiting for this game for awhile (actually not really because UT is still amazing... I'm just holding my breath hoping this will surpass it's greatness). 65% complete, 145 k/s , I can't wait!

Ok i got it. Played it for about 10 mins on the instant action play mode. The graphics are very nice. It feels and plays just like the original. The SP mode is almost exactly the same as the original and I certainly don't feel like playing the SP game too much cos there is just 2 maps. However, I'm gunna give it a go on MP and see if that is any better. It's a shame they couldn't think of any more original taunts as they seem to be the same as b4 but with one or two additioan lone. The wepons all sort of feel the same, I can't describe it. They don't feel powerful at all. They do feel better weighted though...

The Flak Cannon is good, not as powerful as b4 and the RL take 2 hits to kill which is better I feel. The physics are good, it is true the dying scenes are quite different everytime...:)

Well gunna give it a shot online and see if it's more fun... ;)

You nvidia guys might want to read this- out of the readme file

"The NVIDIA 40.41 drivers are known to have visual flaws and performance
problems (hitching) with the Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo which are not
present in the 30.82 drivers. The issue has been addressed by NVIDIA
and future drivers released by NVIDIA will contain the appropriate fixes.

If you are currently running the 40.41 drivers please either downgrade
to 30.82 or install newer drivers when available."

well the game sure is nice.

there are a couple of things that have been bothering me though.

first off how come there are no bullet holes when i shoot my weapons, one of the cool things i liked about UT was when i was shooting my plasma rifle on beam mode and made a massive line on the wall, sometimes i would draw a little smiley face with it!
i hope they include this in the full game, as i love having bullet holes in the wall. it's weird, because i have seen and i have a couple of unreal 2 screenshots where someone has been shooting at a wall for ages and there are loads of bullet holes, you think it's just the demo version?

also do you know if the redeemer or the ion gun is in any of the maps in the demo version? i cant seem to find them anywhere.

in asbestos (?) the map where there is a small little pool where you get the rocket, it has pixel shading on the water, so it does have directX 8 effects in the game.

i ran this demo on my mates PC who has a geforce 2 GTS pro 64mb and another visual effect from the game using directX 8 would be the health icons in the game, in a geforce 4 or equivelant it's transparent blue and nice and all that (not feeling very technical right now!) and on the geforce 2 it's just kinda bog standard (why cant i think of the technical terms for them?!?)

citadel looks very good, with all the bump mapping, the game looks stunning, however i think it could look better, which apparently it will do in the full release of the game, am i right

the body movement is fantastic, when you shoot someone with the assault rifle, watching their body float through the air (i have the game speed slowed down to 50% to see all the effects etc) is really satisfying.

also the blood looks great.

i am a little disappointed with it so far though, but then again it's just a demo, bombing run is really great, could and have played that for hours, even with bots that seem to be pretty good at the moment.

i dont particulary like the bots reactions when you shoot them though, not reacting to where you shoot them etc. i shot one of them in the leg and expected him to stumble a litte, but he just reacted the same way as when i shot him in the head and arms etc

i think this game will be awesome on full release though, i cant wait.

off to play it now in fact! (again!)

i'm diggin it, but i need to get a decent controller. what are you guys using?
I personally like and use the USB version of the Claw. Along with the mouse of your choice, it can't be beat for any FPS games IMO.
With the Claw you will be able to perform maneuvers that are difficult, if not impossible, with a keyboard. With 10 fully programmable buttons at your fingertips, you will be able to perform perfectly timed maneuvers and commands with ease.

EDIT:

This Site has it for $37.90

-That's true about the bullet holes not being there- I'm 99% sure they will be in the final version (seeing as we only have "normal" and "high" settings, we don't have the maximum setting for anything on visuals in the demo).

-I also have the plain-jane solid blue HUD on a GF3, I wonder why? I figured it may be because your friend's GF2 lacked pixel/vertex shadars, but my GF3 doesn't, and besides, the HUD in the original UT was also translucent. Again, hopefully it's a factor of the detail.

-I don't think the Redeemer or Ion cannon are in the demo. Again, they've gotta keep some stuff in the full version to get us to buy it!

I have the 927 Build Leak and bullet holes are there.

There have been some changes.

The sniper rifle is now the lightning gun.

The Redeemer is gone and replaced by another weapon. Have to go to UT website to read up on all the specifics.

Besides that this game is stunning visually and fast in pace.

If you install Nvidia 40. drivers you will have major problems and the game will not start. I also had difficulty with BF1942 after installing 40 Detanators.

Luckily i was going to reformat and add Win XP Pro anyway. I reformatted and used 30 Detanators and they both run fine now.

i also think it's a shame that the rocket launcher only has three barrels on it this time around, in unreal the eightball was fantastic and in my opinion better than UT's version. but with only 3 barrels in UT2003 i just dont think it cuts it to well as a rocket launcher. i dont know why but it just doesn't seem as powerful when you shoot the thing, when you have it in your hand it looks and feel great, but when you shoot it it's a little disappointing.

i think the flak cannon could have been a little bit better, i know that a lot of newbies like the ease of having the flaks bouncing of more than one wall but they didn't have to stop this this time around to make the weapon harder to use for newbies. for example, closing the spread of the shot makes it harder. i'm not sure what else could have been changed with it, maybe the look of it?
the flak cannon in unreal looked a bit flimsy and in UT it looked fantastic, beefy, powerful and looked mean, if you ask me it looks more like the original unreal version and not as mean.

oh yeah and how do you use the adrenaline? my mate told me he used it once but i cant seem to figure it out!

i was playing with bots yesterday on EXPERIENCED and set the time limit to 30 mins on the outdoor level, antalus? and man did i own them bots! i think my end score was 137 kills and 1 death.
see if you can beat that score!
to makes things worse, the announcer guys announced like 2 minutes left in the game and i hadn't died at that point, so i thought i would take it easy since i like had 38HP, then some knob head sniped me

<--- waiting for the Voodoo patch to play the UT2k3 demo. They've admitted they f'd up the demo release in terms of voodoo compatibility. A patch is being worked on that will ALSO fix some "major" bugs according to them.

- Redeemer is not gone from the game. That plus the ION CANNON will be in the maps you see in the demo. They are not in the demo because they wanted to keep file sizes down.

There are combinations of moves you use when adrenaline reaches 100.

A piece from - http://www.ut2003community.com/spmoves.php

Adrenaline is obtained by picking up the capsules, which boost your level by 3, or by killing opponents, which boosts it by 10. To perform these adrenaline moves you need 100 adrenaline. They last until the adrenaline runs out.

BERSERK
:: Fwd, Fwd, Back, Back ::

INVISIBILITY
:: Left, Left, Right, Right ::

BOOSTER
: Back, Back, Back, Back ::

SPEED
:: Fwd, Fwd, Fwd, Fwd ::

OTHER SPECIAL MOVES

DOUBLE JUMP
::Jump, then jump again at the top of the first jump ::

DODGE
:: Double tap Strafe Left or Right ::

DODGE JUMP
:: Perform dodge, then jump before you land ::

WALL JUMP
:: Run along a wall and jump into it. Press jump and opposite strafe when you hit the wall. (If the wall is to the right, jump+strafe left and vice versa) ::

LIFT JUMP
:: When very close to the top of a lift, jump and you recieve a great deal more momentum, propelling you alot further ::

SHIELD JUMP
:: Charge up the primary fire mode of the shield gun, look towards the floor and release. After the kickback, jump again to pull off the shield jump ::
