Damnit, i thought there might be a date mentioned :p

I truthfully never really got into games much...till UT2k4.

And while there's still only a few games i've liked since UT2k4, i still play 2k4 at least a couple times a week...

I cannot wait for 2k7, & the more i see the screenies, though i think it's going to be the best graphics in a game out there, i don't think it's going to be so much better that our current PCs can't run it at lower settings, which is nice for those of us who can't spend $1000 on SLI/Xfire setups :D

not really, the Sony hype machine strikes again.

People are hungry for PlayStation 3 information, so when PSM Magazine talked with Epic Games and speculated Unreal Tournament 2K7 would arrive on launch day for Sony's next-generation hardware, news spread like wildfire. PSM's prediction, however, may be a bit off.
One gamer asked the launch question to on Atari's message boards. Atari was the publisher of Epic Games' releases until they signed with Midway last year. Since the company's still actively supporting their last Unreal Tournament release, though, there's still an Epic Games presence.

A producer at the company confirmed a launch release was not currently in the cards, and the PC version will seemingly be released first. "We're not scheduled to be a ps3 [sic] launch title, not certain where those news sites are getting that from," reads the response before going on to confirm the obvious fact that there will be a demo for the PC version.

Chances are Unreal Tournament 2K7 will be released near PlayStation 3's launch; the game has always been targeted for a holiday release, not long after most people expect the machine to realistically launch here in the US, despite Sony's insistence on a spring debut.

the way the controller looks for the ps3 makes me wonder how the hell people are going to play ut2007 !!! the thing doesn't look any improvement on fps. on my xbox and 360 controller i can play fps easy. :! Anyways Epic just wants to sucker into people buying ut2007 as launch title "it looks great but plays the game play is crap beacuse of the controller"... i bet you it will auto aim ... which is very lame :!

I'm not seeing how the PS2/3 controller isn't exactly the same as using an xbox controller for fps.

Both have:
2 analog sticks
trigger buttons (the ps2/3 actually has more trigger buttons)
4 action buttons for the right thumb

What difference is there? I've used both and both work.

Exactly what I was thinking.

You do know that most people click and read links before posting, right?
The Shacknews post liked to in the OP:

UT2007 Coming To PC First [10:59 am]
18 Comments - Maarten Goldstein

There's a post by an Epic Games producer on the Atari Unreal Tournament forums, replying to a fan's question about the release of Unreal Tournament 2007. Despite console port plans, UT2007 will be released for the PC first. The Epic producer also denies that the game will be a PS3 launch title ("not certain where those news sites are getting that from"), and mentions there will be a pre-release demo for the game.

GG, thanks for playing and all that.

Did that already come out?

They don't release a new game every year :p (and I'm glad they don't, that would just lead them to rush crap and throw it in a box without taking any time to polish it)

UT came out in 1999, UT2003 in 2002, UT2004 in 2004, and UT2007 is due sometime in mid/late 2006 (this year).

I've heard several speculated dates, but in June is the latest one.

I think we will see this early summer actually :D

What they wanted to do was create a sports-type franchise, which was started with UT2003 (hence the name, and the year of release), but obviously 2k4 was delayed so they could make it awesome, and then there's been a break. It's still like a sports franchise (hence the year names, and so far semi-regular releases), but it's not overdone like FIFA or Madden etc, where they release the same barely changed pap each year and call it a new game because it has updated names.
