UT2004: possible to make DVDs from the CDs?

I just purchased the CD-ROM version of UT2004 - 6 freakin CDs!!! I had ordered the DVD special edition from Best Buy but apparently they sold out just before I ordered and the website didn't reflect that fact yet.

Damn fine game, but I want to have a backup copy for taking to LAN parties and such (don't want to risk loss/damage of originals) and I would muchly like to have said backup on DVDs rather than CDs so as to have fewer discs to carry. Is there any way known to back up the CD version of UT2004 onto DVDs and have it be able to install from the DVDs if necessary?

Came across this from another board.
-------------
I put all 6 cds files in a dir,
just dont put the 2 files AutoRun.exe and AutoRun.inf from cds 2 thru 6..AutoRun.inf must be from cd1 and data burn with volume lable UT2004_DVD.
was 3.68GB
The layout looked like this:

Animations
Benchmark
DirectX9
Extras
ForceFeedback
Help
KarmaData
Manual
Maps
Music
Sounds
Speech
StaticMeshes
System
Textures
Web
AutoRun.inf
linux-installer.sh
Setup.exe

Could you please link me to the forum where you found that?

Also, will this DVD be recognized by the CD-checker when you play the game or will it necessitate a no-CD crack?

Not a chance. Password protected, member only.

Will require a no-cd crack I imagine, no way that I know off around that.

The original DVD looks like this:

[CD1]
[CD2]
[CD3]
[CD4]
[CD5]
[CD6]
Setup.exe
AutoRun.inf
linux-installer.sh

...and the CD folders have the sub-folders from their sources.

Since the DVD edition is so damn scarce and I hate having to put in Play discs, I have a No CD crack in effect.

why not just backup the playdisk? or simply use a no cd crack, or use deamon tools and mount it as an image.

And by the way, the latest version of Daemon tools that was just released works with UT2k4 now... version 3.46.

Well, what I had in mind was being able to install from the DVD later, 1) for convenience sake not having to swap out discs 6 times, and 2) so that I have the whole installable game in case I lose one or more of the original discs (and so it doesn't eat up 6 pockets in my CD case).
