I've always used mouse wheel.
But, I'm good enough I'm not weapon specific. I'll kill ya with all of them ;)

I just memorize the order of weapons, then pay attention to what I pick up. That way I never have to worry about what weapon to use. It just... works. I know that I'm holding the link gun and I know that I have the minigun, flak cannon, grenade launcher, and rocket launcher. *click*click*click*click* and start launching rockets. *click*click* and start unloading flak. It's really quite simple.

and apparently quite effective, considering how many times you pwned me in my couple visits to the AT game server...;)

I also use the mousewheel since that's just the most convenient, and it's helped me to memorize the order of the weapons so that I can either scroll up or down to get to the weapon I want.

here's a n00b question - how exactly does the shield gun work? From what I've gathered you hold down fire to charge, and then release when you get near an opponent to kill them, but if you have it held down, can you block bullets/projectiles too? It seems like obvious answer, but the several times I've been caught away from a weapon cache and exhausted my assault rifle ammo, my shield gun doesn't stop crap.

The primary fire is just like the impact hammer of the original UT. The alternate fire, however, is a green shield that takes 1 damage per hit of whatever and can take up to 15 hits. Hope the other guy doesn't have a minigun or a flak cannon. Anyway, it does suck balls unless you need to boost your jump at the cost of a little health to reach something higher than what you can reach. Or like Jmmsbnd007 by running around and schooling everyone with the primary fire :(

I've got the translocator bound to q and the shield gun bound to e. Other than that, I just use the standard setup.

BTW, ChinamanatNCSU, what nick were you playing under on the server?

AznInvAzn

I don't remember playing against you at all. :confused: I do spend quite a bit of time there, but I don't remember that name. Of course, it could have just been another splatter on the wall and I wouldn't have noticed ;) :p

I have the link gun and the lightning gun bound to specific keys - I play mostly onslaught though, where the link gun is more important....I also have the Avril bound for that reason.

Eh. I must be HORRIBLE because every time I play an onslought game, I lose. Every freaking time, now. I think I've won a total of four onslought games out of DAYS of play.

For capture the flag I have the translocator bound to the keypad number 1 position. I can use it to escape or fly through the level quickly. Then I use the RIGHT-CLICK + LEFT-CLICK trick to change back to my last used weapon. Otherwise, I just stick with the standard mouse scroll. Seems to work well enough for deathmatch, since I'll usually stick with a weapon of choice until I run out ammo or pick up a weapon I'm better with.

I'm trying to work out a logical setup for Onslaught maps to cycle through the weapons because I keep getting owned by tanks and such.:frown: Using FFM's method of knowing your inventory doesn't work as well for Onslaught because the resupply stations vary between maps and checkpoints, which makes it difficult to know/remember exactly which weapons you have.

I'm gonna have to give the ATOT server a shot when I get home.:)

That's why you always leave behind weapons with so much ammo left! :D

Flak - F
Rocket Launcher/Avril - R
Translocator - Q
Minigun - X
Link Gun - C
Sniper Rifle/Lightning Gun - T
Shock Rifle - E

Normal WSAD controls, I use mousewheel for the other weapons cause I don't use them as much. I like it much better then just using a wheel.

First, I want to ask why the AVRiL is not bindable.

Anyway, I have the link gun bound to the keypad "-" key since I use the keypad for motion. I have the rocket launcher bound to my thumb mouse button... that's all I really use in 1vs1.

i use the Nostromo n52 bottom 4 keys and bind them to even numbers then i use the scroll to go up or down

WASD
Space = jump
Alt = crouch or walk, depends on game
Shift = crouch or walk, depends on game
Ctrl = zoom if available

1 = Shield Gun
F/2 = Assault Rifle
3 = Biorifle
V/4 = Shock Rifle
Q = Minigun
E = Rocket
R = Lightning
C = Flak Cannon
X = Link Gun
Z = Translocator

Only weapon that's sometimes weird to get is shock rifle. V/4 is a bit too far away, but I'm out of keys. I could always make it shift/ctrl/alt, but I think I'll get used to V/4.

The extra weapons automatically bind to those slots they occupy (ie, AVRiL binds to the key you have set for Rocket Launcher because it resides in that slot).

everything is on my numpad.
8, 4, 5, 6 are front back and strafe.
7 and 8 are turn left & right.
1 is back one weapon
2 is forward 1 weapon
3 is for zoom, the decimal is for zoom level (if the game has it)
the /, *, - , + and enter are special keys based on game for instance, in T2, /=grenade, * = mine, + = health kit, enter = pack.

How's that possible ? There are ONS maps with both a RL and AVRiL. I think #8 defaults to the RL... are you saying hitting it twice gives me the AVRiL ?
