Even though I have been a Windows System builder for 5-6 years now, I am a total NewB to Linux. I installed Mandrake Linux 9 a few nights ago. I only used the first CD since the CDRom seem to have a problem reading the second disk during the install. All went fine. It detected all my hardware, network, etc... I played around with it for a while to see how much I didn't understand, which was alot. Since I was online, I downloaded the UT 2003 Demo for Linux. I didn't see any directions for installation. Maybe I just missed them. After download completed, I clicked the downloaded file. It made another folder in the directory the downloaded file was in with all the files and folders from game. I clicked what looked like the executable to start game. The splash screen came up, the hard started running hard (appeared to be loading game), but after about 15 seconds the splash screen left, another window popped up claiming "Can not find program UT2003_Demo". I looked online for help with this problem, but with no luck. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I also downloaded the original UT. It was in the tar.gz format. When I execute the downloaded file, it let's me look at the files and folders in it, but doesn't extract it. Help???
