UT stops respoding when i launch?

all of a sudden when i launch UT it stops responding, on that small windows screen before it shows the video if u get what i mean. it used to work fine but i don't know what to do now. i've reinstalled, unistalled and reinstalled, it doesn't even launch in safe mode. i've run scandisk etc also
any ideas?
