OK, I just upgraded to a 1.33 GHz (266) Athlon T-Bird, FIC AD11 motherboard, and 256 megs PC2100 DDR SDRAM. Previously I was running a Celeron 600 @ 749/83 with 320 megs PC100 SDRAM on an ABIT BX6. I also have a Geforce2 MX, used it with the old motherboard and I am continuing to use it with the new one.

On my old setup, Unreal Tournament ran consistently at an average of 50 fps or higher. Now, on my 1.33 GHz DDR Athlon rig, it runs 15-20 fps on average. Quake 3 runs just fine, and is even slightly improved.

Is there an issue with the Unreal engine/Unreal Tournament specifically and the Athlon DDR setup?

The board I'm using is AMD 761 Northbridge, VIA 686B Southbridge, if this helps any.

I haven't installed any VIA drivers, I just stuck the motherboard in, wiped my HD, and reloaded Windows ME from scratch. Are there specific drivers I need to download for the 686B Southbridge?

get the via drivers...4.32 are the newest ones. Also, do you have vsync and anti-aliasing off?

Ah once again operator error rears it's ugly head. you need to install the amd agp driver and the via 4 in 1 drivers for the Via southbridge. I am sure that the motherboard manual must have mentioned this.

Like WildDreamer said, be extra careful NOT to install the VIA's AGP driver! The AGP driver included with the 4-in-1 software is for VIA northbridge only. You need AMD's AGP driver for the 761 chip you have.

WinMe does not have this AMD driver preloaded, so you will definitely need it for full performance. :)

Get the via 4 in 1 drivers! I have a Iwill KK266 and had the same issues until I downloaded the drivers! wow! After you reboot! Your windows goes crazy finding mobo devices!

Yes but this is not a KT266 board, it's only HALF VIA...the Northbridge is AMD 761.

The Epox mobo by any chance? Yes that's why you need the 4-1s for the VIA half without the VIA AGP, and the AMD AGP for the AMD 761 half. ;)

i know this is kinda off subject, but its not even half kt266. your southbridge is from kt133a :) 686b southbridge isnt used with kt266 boards

but your question was answered above, you NEED the amd agp driver, and althought you dont NEED the other 3 parts of the via 4in1 they are still a good idea
