pick cashier and thank me later

I wouldn't work at Best Buy again ever. But if you have to pick, I concur, pick cashier.

I know... I am desperate for money. I worked in resturants, never going back to those. Delivering the local paper now.. not fun. I want something where I can go and just clock in and out, and that is close. 1 mile away isn't bad.

There has got to be other.... NO. I know for a fact that there are better ways to make money than working at BB. May god forgive you... (cause BB customers will not!).

dont lie...just tell them everything and be true to your heart.......if you dont make the commision, atleast you will make your hourly, and have a conscience

I WILL NOT work sales (hopefully). I refuse to lie to people for a buck.

good luck in the real world then

I can sell something if needed, but I don't see me making my life out of it. My dad does that and it is a very high-stress job, not well suited for me (I like high stress, but Sales = teh suck). Ill take it, but non-commission is all I'd do.

Ut oh? The interview process at BB is a joke. Hence all the morons working there. You can say anything you want short of "I plan on stealing crap when I get the chance" and you'll get hired.

A job is a job. Unless you are 25 and flipping burgers at a poor attempt to make ends meet... then a job is just a poor excuse to get out of real work.

agreed.
When I worked for a vendor doing computer-shows, I was honest about things. I actually actively avoided pushing software-driven "winmodems", and things of that ilk. Although I had no problems (in terms of my concience), upselling a customer on quality products, like an Adaptec SCSI card and a Plextor CDRW, for example. It depends. Granted, most big-box retailers due rely on a certain element of deception inherent in their flashy advertising blitz to drive their sales, and a job working for a "techie" reseller isn't exactly the same. But I just wanted to reply, to indicate that not all retail-sales jobs involve requirements to lie to people, nor do they involve pushing "service plans" or their ilk. I talked to a lot of repeat customers (most of them decent spenders), precisely because I was honest with them, and also answered their technical questions. And to be fair to at least some of the BB employees, I've actually talked to a few that know their stuff too. But most more than likely don't, since it seems that most of them are still in HS, more or less.
BestBuy seems all about the "shopping image", rather than substance. If you want honest answers, and technical capability, shop elsewhere. If you want to be seen by other people in society, shopping at the "SUV of big-box retailers", well, there you are.
