(2 machines connected via crossover cable, Win95b w/ smc eznet 10/100, and Win98SE w/ netgear fa310tx)

A file approx. 50MB transfers in about 5-6 seconds over NetBEUI. Over TCP/IP, it takes about 3-5 minutes. Both ways.

TCP/IP should not be that much slower!!

Oh, and I need TCP/IP and IPX/SPX for lan games, and I just added NetBEUI because I'm sick of slow file transfers.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

edit: above solved, but UT doesn't notice that.

UT(Unreal Tournament) transfers maps/textures/etc. very slowly. It's very annoying over a lan. The current map will be over, while the other machine is still recieving!

Yeah, I could just transfer the stuff manually, but I want to fix this.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks!

That made a big difference.

One remaining question- Why does UT still transfer maps/textures/etc. slowly? It's very annoying over a lan. The current map will be done, while the other machine is still recieving!

Yeah, I could just transfer the stuff manually, but where's the fun in that?

Thanks!

Edit the INIs, UT maxes transfers at 20K so as it wont kill the game server or bandwith by default

It's already at 20000 in unrealtournament.ini :|

Could it be the 420 patch?

EDIT: a 3-4 MB map transfers in about 6-7 minutes! Help!

20000 = 20000 bytes :) add like 4 zeros, and look for the same thing in a bunch of places... and a couple of other .inis i seem to recall changing it in 4 different plases before it worked
