UT Aimbot ruins the game !!!

I just played a aimbot demo which is just terrible. I got it here:

Seems that the player a guy named MACK-RICO was racking up over 200 frags in just few minutes. As a matter of fact several other players had MACK- in there names also so I assume this is a clan. The Aimbot NEVER missed from any distance. Watch out for these d*m cheaters !!!

This is VERY DANGEROUS not just for UT gamers but all of us in the community. Your not exempt if you play Q3A either. These guys love a challenge and beleive me they will hack anything they can including Q3A. They will ruin it for all of us, those b*stards.

We need to get it together, players from all games and sign the petition to stop this crap. This link looked broken to me but I'll post it here anyways. Maybe they will fix it later.

Danm haven't playing UT's for a while, but are you sure that they are cheating. I have seen alot of good players out there that I thought they were cheating until I get better at the game. How are you at it anyway. I hope someday you'll run into someone like Kravnos. I've been accused of cheating before cuz my primary weapons were Shock and alot of rookie have never seen a shock combo so they go on and on about me cheating. But I've quit playing UT's for 3 months now. Maybe it's time to go back now.

No it's not that there just good. Someone has come up with a program that aims for them. If you run the demo from the link above you will see this guy
in Facing Worlds on a top ledge hitting opponents he cannot even see, because there to far away !!! I also read that certain hack sites are putting this up on there websites for download. There calling it &quot;funbot&quot;

Sound very much like what happened with the orginal wave of Quake proxy bots, and that's the reason that Q3A has the concept of server and client purity.

Unfortunately, cheating in online games is pretty much unavoidable... you have to trust the client for certain things, and that means that anybody with lots of time and a decent debugger can hack your client to do anything they want.

There was an article about it in Game Developer magazine a few months back, and I think the same article was finally posted to GamaSutra. It's an interesting read.

there's also the Lag cheat that's similar to the one that cheats use in Diablo2, if you see a player that seems to be lagging or hickupping there probably using it.

something will have to be done about it soon. One thing that can be done is hardcoding the entire game, skins, levels, everything and when you connect to the registered server you get a checksum.

Recently we became aware of the aimbot cheat. The Admin installed a patch to check for it and 5 guys were caught out this weekend. This included 2 guys in my clan. The damn thing sucks big time.

I would certainly classify myself a rookie and expect to get fragged my share of the time, but criminy; some hits I take from the same players seem to come from nowhere. Also, even toe-to-toe, I get one-shot fragged no matter how much I jump, strafe, or backpeddle.

I've played LAN UT in the same room with guys that are much better than I am, who aren't cheating. So I have a good idea of my unadulterated skill level. I don't win very often, but at least I can hold my own. On some of the internet servers though, I don't stand a chance. I never accuse anyone of cheating unless I have proof. But I've often suspected that cheating was going on.

If I'm on a server where I'm being fragged at a stupidly higher rate than normal, I just go to another server.

i dont get the point of cheating in UT, you get no gain from it, i mean , ooh yeah, im holding down my mouse button and people are dying, how rewarding.

I get 100 times more satisfaction from using my wits to hunt a good player down and pumping him full of lead. Then when he does the same to me a few minutes later, i just get more fired up, and it makes the game that much more fun, the competition is whats addicting. Cheating would be like beating your 3 year old nephew 20 times in a row in checkers and bragging about it like your some checkers god or something.

I used to play Hexenworld:Seige with (against) Kravnos a few years ago. He was good at that too! If you know him, ask him about the first AVSL tourney and who won that one...
