I just got Ut 2003, dont ask me how, my friend let me borrow his. Anyway, i just installed it on this machine.
P4 1.8
256 mb pc800 ram
Geforce3 classic (23.11 Drivers))
Maxtor 80gb 7200 quiet drive
WD 40gb 7200 drive
Lite-on 32x10x40 cdrw
19in EV910 Moniter (does 1600x1200 at 75 hz)
WINXP PRO
Anyway, after installation i set my video to 1024x768 and turned off triple buffering and triple ??. Anyway, i left everthing else as is since i dont understand most of the settings like cube mapping ect. If anyone is familiar with what settings would be good for me, please help or fill me in.
The main problem is that when i play the game, fraps says my FPS are at or around 80fps when still but when i move or get into a fight, you can see tremendous fps drop, sometimes to around 12. I then lowered the res to 800x600 and kept everything on high-medium and again same problem. Please help me, cause i dont think this game should give me that bad of performance. Theres got to be something i can do to make it play better. Using 23.11 drivers
UPDATE:
Here are the options i have to mess with
Display:
Resolution
Sync to Retrace
Tri-Lin Filtering
Triple Buffering
Details:
Min Framerate
High Detail Actors (On/Off)
Character Shadows (On/Off)
Dynamic Lights (On/Off)
Physics Detail (High/Low)
Decals (On/Off)
Cubemaps (On/Off)
Texture Detail (High/Medium/Low)
Coronas (On/Off)
Detail Textures (On/Off)
It really wierd. I have played at 800x600 in asbestos dm. With shadows off, texture medium and coronas and triple/tri buff/filtering off. It plays fine in some parts but seems to slow to around 7 to15 fps when entering a room. Then it might speed up after a 3 seconds. Its really odd. Not to put the game down but some of the boards i played didnt look drastically better then that of original UT. Anyway, what are half these options and which would i get best results with. I just dont understand how it is slowing down.
