Hey all,

I've got a AMD XP 1900 at 1.62Ghz and a Radeon 8500 64MB at 295/295, running on the latest Catalyst 3.1 drivers (real nice!) At the moment, I run UT2003 at 1152 X 864,v sync off, at almost the highest settings (character and texture set at higher, everything else highest). Smoothvision is turned off and so is Anisotropic, both on hardware and in the actual game (its set to 0). Sound is Hardware w/ EAX. Has anyone had a better experience with 1024 x 768 with 2x FSAA? As it stands now, the game (even the fps killing levels) run pretty well. Should I turn anisotropic on, (8x or 16x) cause I really don't see a huge difference in that respect (too busy fraggin..;)) ? Any thoughts?

My son is running a retail Radeon 128MB @ 310/306 with a 1400MHz Morgan. Anisotropic at max, 1280 x 1024 all details maxed is real smooth. No FSAA of course.

Hmm..well forget FSAA (especially on a system hog like UT 2003) but is it worth running anisotropic at 8x or 16x? Is it worth the fps to run it in UT 2003 via the UT2003.ini file (aniso = 1)? I've got the game running now at 1152 x 864 and 8x aniso, with everything at max detail..and most maps run pretty damn well. It looks like there is some difference in the texturing in the ground ahead of me due to aniso...but I might be seeing this. Anyone else?

so wratch it up to 16x then? Another thought I had was if there is an easy to see difference between higher and highest settings for the character and texture settings? ;) Lots o questions I know, but I was just fiddling around and wanted to get an idea...

Move that puppy up to 16X, but image quality is kinda of a personal preference thing, just test a bunch and use what you think works best. I just got done fiddling with my 9700 Pro now @ 387/345, and I found that while FSAA 6X will run smoothly in all games at 1600 x 1200, I can't see any real difference after 2X, so 2X is all I need.
