I was wondering if anybody remembers the line you add to the system info file to stop the intro movie from playing?

my system locks up or the game crashes at that point in direct X, it's fine in opengl

I just reinstalled the game same thing, I have had noting but problems with this game in D3D.

windows XP
cat 7.3, 7.4. 7.5 all the same
x1950 pro

I have spent many hours trying to fix d3d but I never have gotten anywhere. You think you have it fixed, but the next time you play it it crashes again and again, updated direct x, tried many game setting changes, graphics card changes etc. Finally I tried a fresh install, with no change

well I actually have the game double installed on my pc, the old one is at 436

the new install is at 432 I think

same problem, were do ya get the 451 patch?

thanks for the link, tried 451 on old install. same thing, no go

edit:
tried this:To get Unreal Tournament to load faster you should open your UnrealTournament.ini. Search for the line LocalMap=CityIntro.unr change it to LocalMap=UT-Logo-Map.unr & save the changes. The game should now load faster than it currently does. Press the Esc key to bring up the Unreal Tournament GUI

from http://www.techspot.com/tweaks/ut/

it didn't help

"Have you tried a different renderer? "

yes tried many, my old install was played around with so much that even opengl was getting slow, so I did a fresh install, on the new install opengl at 432 patch un touched/modded is running good

ourfpshero

intersting link, I will have to go thru that one it will take a while, thanks

edit: tried it out on old install, d3d crashed, but opengl looked great and ran fast

thanks MSCoder610, more stuff to checkout

well opengl is running great on the old install now, so it looks like I am fine for now. if I can keep opengl working good, I can get by without d3d.

Don't install the v451 patch or you could have problems on various servers. All you need and want is v436 and if you installed v451 you'll have to do a complete reinstall.
