Does anyone know if they make a UST tubeless rear slick tire? I am wanting to use my bike on a trainer in these cold winter months, but need a smooth tread, or tire slick to go on the Mavic Maxx UST rim. Thoughts?

Right now I am using Michelin Windgripper UST but like I say, I need something quiet.

Thanks,

-Steve

Might be cheaper and easier to just go grab a generic pre-built wheel and $10 el-cheapo slick from your LBS and swap those out when you want to hit the trainer. Even if you could find a UST, trainers will eat the tire pretty quickly and those particular tires ain't cheap.

EDIT- looked around and they don't seem to exist AFAIK. The Hutchinson mosquitos are about as close to slick as I could find.

Not a bad idea really. . .i could get a cheap rear off egay and plunk it in since it won't be outdoors anyway. Slap on a slick and ready to roll. . .I don't know why i didn't think of this. . perhaps thats why you are god. . .perhaps. . .

anyway, off to the local shop after werk. . .woo

It's what I resorted to after noticing that my trainer was wearing a nice flat spot on my $35 Continentals. :|

Either check out Ebay or your LBS for a crap wheel. I found one that was a takeoff from some yahoo who insisted on upgrading the stock wheels on his $500 road bike to a pair of $600 Mavic Heliums. Bike shop didn't want them and couldn't really move them so they're my trainer/bad weather wheels. Slapped some Cheng Shin (read: really cheap) rubber on them and called it good.

And no, I didn't find UST slicks. No market for them, I guess.
