The photographer in question would happily take pictures of a wedding. It was the gay part they objected to. Being gay is a protected status.

In your example the theoretical black photographer would happily take pictures of a white rally, it is the supremacist that they object to. Supremacistism is not a protected status.
That's a good point, although why else would you have a specifically white rally? "We're here, we're white, get - wait a minute, everybody's already used to us. Anybody got a Barry Manilow CD?"

Holy crap moonbeam, where have you been at?

I have missed your post.

Me the bigot?

It is people like you who do not want to extend protected class status to all groups.
I'm all in favor of not extending a special protected class status to gays or anyone else, but this is merely asking for equality under the law. Nothing special about that.

If a restaurant has a posted policy of "No shoes, no shirt, no service" and a shirtless, shoeless gay person comes in for a burger, does the restaurant implode?

They need to test that out.

One of the problems with liberals, they are all for marriage equality, that is until you mention polygamy. then all of a sudden they are opposed to marriage equality for certain groups.

This type of historical evidence is only useful in answering the question if homosexuality existed at x time.

Nice attempt to aviod the facts.

The historical evidence proves being gay is a choice.

No they didn't. Do you know any Spartans now? That is because they made no babies.

LOL. Good one.

We have no Spartans today because they were all gay.

Maybe it was something in the water?

My dad use to live in Kansas. When they had blu laws and no drinking on Sunday They set up bars to be private clubs so they could sell booze on Sunday. Just make your store a private club.

Interesting thread.

As far as gay being a choice or not, the opinion I seem to be forming is that it is a mixture of both. It seems to me that some people are born with a genetic defect that predisposes them to have traits of the opposite gender. And some gays are no doubt influenced by current culture or feel scorned by one gender of person and want to try another, or whatever.

There are many instances of gay people having sex with the opposite gender. 93 percent of women who call themselves lesbians have had sex with men. 93 percent!! And yet it is not a choice??? Who or what you decide to make love to is always a choice.

Here is where I got that stat from for you proof people out there.

Katherine Fethers, Caron Marks, et al., “Sexually transmitted infections and risk behaviours in women who have sex with women,” Sexually Transmitted Infections, 76(5): 345- 349, p. 347

Interesting. The opinion I seem to be forming is that I could not care less why people do the things they do unless there are truly extenuating circumstances such as shoplifting food for a hungry child or reckless driving because one's spouse is bleeding out in the back seat. Other than those few occasions, actions stand or fall on their own merit. I do not want to hear why my neighbor is in a same sex relationship, nor the various factors and back history involved. My only interest is that government treat us all fairly.

Although I did read that only 20% of gay men are born gay and the other 80% just get sucked into it. <rim shot>

Hmmm. Actually, sex is the only thing that being gay is about. They have a word for that you know.... two people of the same sex that have a relationship without having sex... it's called being a friend.

I said it wasn't the only thing.

If your relationship with your SO is only about sex, then I feel sorry for you, because you're missing out...
