USR wireless update 22 to 54 Mbps

Recently USR release new software update for wireless access point and cards

http://www.usr.com/4xfaster/

They promise increase the speed up to 54 Mbps
I did it for my USR2249 and for card - USR2210

Change settings for both of them to support 4x performance
Didn't see any difference. Anybody seen?

For test I just transfer big file over the network. It was zip file, and after big Word document.
Same result

If you read the fine print you'll see they make the "comparison" to 54 Mb in a mixed mode 802.11b and 802.11g client environment. It's called marketing. At best it's suspect. At worst, it's complete bogus lies.

Anyway, it's probably the same 4X modulation techniques that DLink is using. I havent' tested it yet but you won't get 44 Mb. I assume you understand that, but you should see a performance increase. I also assume you understand you must have client devices that support this and are running current firmware too, yes?

Sure, both of device are USR and I update firmware for it in the same time
I am trying to compare situation before update (22Mbps) and after . Looks like nothing changed

I too tried the x4 modulation. Does not seem to improve bandwidth, and reduced stability.

Seems to me a gimmick to be able to claim higher frequency.

Comes from an Industry that keeps advertising 802.11g 5 times faster.

Yeah some of the component run generically 5 time faster, but in general provides 2-3 time improvement in bandwidth over 802.11b, leading to about 16-20Mb/sec. bandwidth from alleged 55Mb/sec.
