USR 5699b modem problems

installing this modem using the newest drivers, but it continues to say it cannot find the driver when i direct it to the folder that contains them. I downloaded the correct drivers and also tried using the ones from the install disc. No luck. It reconizes the modem but won't load a driver. any ideas?
 
Recently had the same problem setting this modem up for someone. It was a windows 2000 machine and for some reason they put the 2000/XP drivers in a separate directory and they are renamed with an underscore at the end of every extension. It came up looking for the file 3cmlink.exe so I pointed it directly to the file 3cmlink.ex_ and then it went ahead and installed everything.
