I had two orders from Amazon scheduled for USPS delivery today. Got separate notifications that "Delivery was attempted. mailbox full."

One order was a laser printer, the other an underseat storage box for the truck...Neither would have come close to fitting on my (oversized) mailbox.

I live in a small very backwater beach town where other than the actual post office, ALL USPS deliveries are handled by an outside contractor. No one in town really has anything good to say about the contract workers' performance.

in over 20 years of Amazon purchasing, I think this is the first time I've had any problem with deliveries.

Channel some of your righteous anger into a phone call to Amazon CS ... they'll most likely do something to compensate you.

Technically, USPS is right. How do you expect them to fit a printer and a storage box in your mailbox? :p

Blame that shit on Amazon...

Funny enough, about 8 hours after I got the notifications from Amazon that USPS couldn't deliver...I got 2 notices in my mailbox (fckrs didn't even come to the door) that my packages were (a) oversized and (b) too heavy...and I could pick them up at the post office on Monday.
I'll be having ANOTHER conversation with Amazon's customer service.

Was there no option to have it delivered UPS/FedEx? Or were you expecting USPS to deliver it to your door?
Not really sure what the problem is... just go pick it up at the post office.

Around here anyway, if USPS has something for me that won't fit in my mailbox they just leave a note in my box stating there's something for me to pick up at the local office. They never come to the door.
Not sure why there was such a long delay in them leaving you a note though.

I'm rural as hell...the USPS leaves stuff on the porch all the time...and no, with Amazon, you don't get any choice in shipping companies.

My local USPS driver is really bad. When I see something is being delivered by USPS, it's almost like flipping a coin if I will actually get it.

I've lived in a lot of difference places, in many different states, over the years. And during that time, when something was being delivered by them, I could reasonably expect to get the item 99.99999% of the time.

Then I moved to Charlotte, NC in 2012. It is always a gamble if they will deliver my items to the correct mailbox/house. I even have a medication delivered by them, and USPS has about a 50% success rate on delivering it to my actual address. Even as recently as two weeks ago, they delivered my 90 day supply to the wrong address again. After that, I decided I will pay more for the prescription and pick it up at a local pharmacy as the small amount of savings is not worth the headache.

Around here, USPS has been great. My mailman always comes down my driveway and leaves packages by my garage door, which is hidden from the street, if they won't fit in the mailbox.

I do bake cookies for him every Christmas, so that probably helps.

I ordered a dog door that goes in a sliding door. It ships in a box that is 7 feet long, and of course all I got was a form saying I could pick it up at the PO.
Well genius if you can't/won't fit it in your 'truck', how the hell am I going to put it in my small car (VW Jetta).

Called amazon, raised hell, and they shipped a replacement with next day FedEx. Kept getting notices from PO that if I didn't pick it up, they would return it.

Of course my real question is why in hell did Amazon ship something 7' long by 2.5' wide via USPS in the first place.

I went to the post office on Monday to get my packages. I asked the post office clerk, why, if it was something they wouldn't deliver...would they have accepted it in the first place? All I got was a blank stare...
Our contract mail lady stopped to deliver our regular mail...informed me that her delivery van was just too full to fit the large packages....plus the printer was heavier than she could handle.
Fed-Ex delivered a box yesterday that was at least 2-1/2 times the size of the biggest box the USPS refused to deliver...no sweat.
