USPS Refund Question

So I sent out 9 first class letter with delivery confirmation. One was returned to me saying that first class letter cannot have DC and to pay more postage. 3 I checked with DC actually made it to its target. The other 5 I have no idea what happened to them. Can I get a refund on any of those letters? At the very least I should get the money for the returned one back right?

it says right on the DC slip what classes of mail can use DC, first class isn't one of them

what is it you feel you deserve a refund on?

They didn't deliver one letter so I should at least get a refund on that one. The others I presume are just lost in delivery, which is a pain because they are rebate letters. So now I stand the chance of getting my rebate rejected because of multiple submission which I will then have to clarify with the rebate company. Sigh.

That's what I was told. So, I usually put it in a thin cardbox (so it's now a package instead of a letter). It usually costs me $1.10 w/ DC.
BTW, DC is not insurance.

The money for the returned one will not be refunded depending on where the item was rejected.

If the post office has a record of the DC being accepted and/or you have a receipt showing the cost, they they will issue a tracer. After 2-3 months then you ask for your $$ back for the cost of mailing, insurance, etc.
