ARGH! ok i packaged up a video card to ship. I took it to the post office and after i hand it to her and she marks it and everything she immeaditly turns around a just THROWS it down over this counter thing. I then said "mam thats fragile computer equimpent" She just said sorry and said "guess you might have wanted to get insurance on it huh?" i was so pissed, i just walked out.

Thats nothing compared to how most of the stuff gets treated. They don't care how the stuff is in the box. Their job is to ship the box and hope the stuff inside it stays inside it. You wouldn't believe how most mail gets handled along with UPS, fedex, etc.

It's in her rights to do something like that but it's still BS since there's no reason for her to be like that...I would have asked to see her manager.

<< ummmm..... did she know the package was of fragile computer equipment? >>

What does it matter whether or not she knew it was fragile stuff? She's an employee of a packaging/shipping service and thus should always assume the contents inside a package are fragile. It should be her responsibility to handle everything with care. Her attitude was completely wrong.

i know everybody bitches about how stuff gets thrown around and stuff, but these people are paid to move boxes as fast as they can. If people are willing to pay more for shipping so that better care is taken then that is another story. i must say though that the lady at the post office is a first class bitch.

so your saying i should have to slip the employees some extra money under the counter just so they will treat my package good? thats bs, they should always take care of the packages. I hope my case arrives ok. But i'm sure it didn't hurt the video card , i had it packaged good (card in anti static bag, wrapped in thick bubble wrap, inside a cardboard box, then packaging peanuts then the outer box)

lmao, don't ever ship anything via ups or fedex then

that's why you package everything very, very, very well so it would withstand crap like that

Agreed...why do you think that companies send you the smallest chip of Ram in the biggest box with the most foam peanuts they can get?? cause the mail throwers are not paid to be nice to your package...heck they even tell you to pack your goods extremely well.

At the very least you should have had the package marked Fragile and insured, not to mention packed extra well.

Every shipping place is like that, the only way it will get delivered nicely is if you pay alot of money, or you deliver it yourself.

this is what i meant, these people are paid to move boxes as fast as they can. At UPS the faster they move the boxes the more they get paid. Sadly if you want stuff that is shipped better you will have to pay more for shipping.

be forewarned - even if you get insurance and USPS screws up - your not likely to get your "money" back -
they don't actually track anything insured for under $50.00 - so you have to "prove" the item wasn't received (requires forms to be filled out by both sender and receiver)
you have to "prove" the value of the item sent (if you sold it ob EVAY, the sale price is not the "value" of the item), you have to produce a sales receipt (say what) - otherwise your item is "worthless"

if the item has any value - send it UPS or FEDEX, otherwise, send it USPS, and beware - if they lose or bust it, odds are your screwed.

I don't think you can insure anything for less than $50.
