USPS Problems...

I am having a good number of issues with the USPS and was wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this, and if so how I should proceed. I'll try and keep this in bullets so it isn't as long....

- Bought PSP Package from user in FS/T Forums on 4/7/07

- Package was shipped on 4/10/07 via USPS Priority Mail w/Delivery Confirmation

- Delivery Confirmation says package was delivered on 4/13/07

- No package was left at my apartment door and the apartment office was closed, so I checked on 4/14/07 in the office and they said no packages were delivered for me on Friday.

- I usually get between 3-5 packages a week and they all get delivered to the office and in two years of living here I have never had any packages turn up stolen or mishandled.

- So I call the USPS 800 number and they tell me they are going to put out a research request and that I should hear something from them on Monday by 5PM EST.

- Monday rolls around and I get no call from the USPS about the package, so I call that night around 6PM and they tell me it can sometimes take 48 hours but that they are still researching and I should hear something on Tuesday from them.

- Tuesday rolls around and I get a call from my local post office saying that they could not locate the package at their facility; they haven't been able to talk to the driver because he hasn't come in yet this week; and that I can call the Post Master for further information.

- I call the Post Master Tuesday morning and he informs me that they still haven't talked to the driver, there hasn't been a history of stolen packages at my apartment complex, and that he will find out more information for me and for me to call back on Thursday morning to see what he finds out.

- I call back on Thursday and talk to the Post Master and he tells me they still haven't talked to the driver and he doesn't see the package on some invoice or list that he is looking at. He gets my contact information and says he will contact me on Friday after speaking with the driver.

- Friday comes and goes with no call from the Post Master and still no package.

- Monday 4/23 - Just got off the phone with them again and spoke to my regular carrier. He says that he always leaves the packages in the office, but can't remember if he delivered any packages that day or not. They now want me to submit a trace on the package, which apprently can only be done at the post office itself.

So now I am out a couple hundred bucks and still don't have my package. I will be calling on Monday to see what the hold up was on Friday, but am just not sure how to proceed from there. I have kept an open dialog with the seller about everything and have asked him to call as well and see if maybe the both of us together could get a better result from them. I have never had an issue like this one before, so this is all kind of new territory for me.

I appreciate any help or advice you guys could offer.

Thanks!

You have a huge problem now. You should of asked the seller if it was ok to pay a little extra to have the package insured. Its worth its weight in gold and can be done online easily.

I agree completely, but ignorance is bliss and since I had never had anything like this ever happen before in years and years of buying/selling I guess it just wasn't something that crossed my mind. Then again, hind-sight is always 20/20.

The whole situation is really pissing me off, I feel like I am getting the complete run around from them.
