USPS Priority Mail Insurance Claim?

edro

Lifer
Has anyone ever made a USPS Priority Mail Insurance Claim due to the customer receiving a damaged item?

I sent a guy a laptop, and he received it busted up a little. He is sending it back to me now. I was wondering how hard it is to get the insurance money.

Do you have to prove that the box was screwed up or what.

No idea..but I'm pretty sure insurance is insurance -- there's no special 'priority mail' option..good thing it was insured, though..

Well, I found on a site that "Shock" is not covered. This is probably what caused the damage. If the box is in good shape, they probably won't cover it.

I got a case with a cracked front bezel. I took the original packaging, the case, and the insurance receipt that the seller mailed me and went to my local PO. They give you a form to fill out. You do that and get a waiver from the insurer stating you are to receive the reimbursement and take it all back up to the PO. They send it some clearing house in MO or nearabouts and you will receive a notice from them concerning the dispensation of your claim.

As far as "shock" is concerned, I have no idea. If it was broken when you got it, then they should cover it but the clearing house will determine that. It will take at least 2 months.
