after auction, buyer paid by paypal and i directly print out shipping label from paypal and put the package in front of my door (next to mail box). after i came back home , the package(the smalll usps priority box < 1lb) was gone , so i assumed it was picked up by mailamn. Then 15 days latter, tracking informaiton( a link that paypal provide to let your track shipping status when u print out shipping label from them) still remain:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on May 22, 2005 to expect your package for mailing. No further information is available for this item.

no good, what should i do ? any one help ... thanks.

delivery confirmation is not tracking. when the package is delivered, it gets scanned. if it has been 15 days, obviously someone other than the postman took it, or it got lost.

no insurance, you are screwed...working Customer SUpport for the USPS has really opened my eyes to this. IF you don't have insurance, the USPS don't care, plain and simple. it's cheap for a reason.

It would have been scanned at least once if it made it to the postal system. I'd assume it was stolen. What were you thinking, to leave it out where anyone could take it??

Also, you should check the regs on priority mail. It will not go on a plane if you drop it in a mailbox, as it's a security risk. If you need it there fast, don't assume that because you've paid priority rates that you will get priority service.

That's not true. It gets scanned throughotu it's trip. I have mailed with DC before and it gets scanned once it's gets accepted and once it reaches different centers, etc.

It gets scanned when it is accepted, and he'd see that on the website.

I used to work for the post office, and they track DC's to find out where their scanning gets missed. Having missed one, I learned the hard way.

Standard delivery confirmation does not get scanned until it is delivered.

He printed an online label. The procedure is not the same as taking it down to the PO and filling out the form there.

If the package is not taken to the PO it will not be scanned until it is delivered

I left a couple of small boxes by the front door for the mail carrier once, he picked them up and moved them from the screendoor to the steps down to the side walk, im assuming to pick them up on the way back up the street rather than carry them everywhere. When i checked an hour later though, the mail truck had gone and the boxes were STILL on the steps near the sidewalk! I ended up having to drive down to the post office and mail them :frown:

I try not to print labels anymore now, at least with paying over the counter you have proof you shipped with the DC label being scanned.

I'd say that it's completely your fault. Leaving a package on the street is just stupid in my book. Is it so hard to drop it at the PO? I doubt they'd even give you insurance because of you leaving it on the street.

What you can do? Refund your buyer, and learn from it.
