USPS lost package from trade, need advice.

sorry if Im posting this in the wrong section, I cant seem to find a section for this.

ok ill be quick, traded my 260 for a 360, my video cad arrived at other persons home fine from NYC to PA, his 360 has not arrived as of Sep 3rd, he has confirmation # and insurance on 360 and good feedback, looks like USPS lost the package.

My question is should I ask for my video card back or should this fall on my shoulders and wait this out for insurance claim if the item does not show up?

How long has it been to be exact? I had a USPS Priority package take 15 days. Obviously not the norm but it does occur. I learned through that transaction USPS will not investigate until 15 days have passed.
If it does pass that time you can contact the buyer to see what if he would prefer sending back your card and he keeps the insurance.
But I don't think he should be responsible to ship your card back to you. He may offer, but I wouldn't demand it.

Should have posted this in FS/FT. In the mean time, when was the deal actually inked? It's kind of moot, 2 weeks isn't that great. If he has confirmation and insurance, he should be able to put a tracer on the package (since insurance tags are tracked through the system). In the mean time, I'd either ask for cash value or wait out the insurance as the 260 isn't worth what it used to be. But that's just me...

Ill see if I can trace it, I thought tracing a package took some time to do that's why I didn't bother asking.

yea sorry about posting here, I figured if I post in FS/FT it would get to the bottom of the barrow fast, I usually get really good help here.

Actually this probably doesn't belong in FS/FT, but it doesn't belong here in Video either. I'm punting you to Off Topic.

I believe the sender needs to file an insurance claim/launch an investigation.

He just needs to visit the post office and talk with the clerk/postmaster and figure out his best course of action.
