Well I recently sold a stick of ram on these forums and shipped it USPS insured. The ram arrived DOA; however, it was working properly before I shipped it. The buyer sent it back and sure enough...it was dead.

Now there is no sign of physical damage from shipping, so what (if any) recourse do I have? I guess I'll go ahead and try to claim it, but I can already see the USPS employee "Sir, there is no physical damage...blah blah".

Any suggestions? (aside from taking a hammer to it :))

How can RAM go bad without being physically damaged? Is is possible for an X-Ray machine to damage memory when being scanned?

Also, are you sure the person that received the RAM had a good machine to test it in?

No physical damage or item was not lost.

Insurance will not cover it them unless you can prove otherwise that shipper is responsible.

insurance will cover it. its just a PITA to do so.

when i had to use USPS to get $50 back on a game I had it was such a PITA. They didn't even check the game. it was Unreal Tournament on PS2. I got it, didn't really like it and it was kind of scratched up and would skip, and I claimed the insurance on it. I had to bring them PROOF that the game was worth $50 (like an add from the paper) and then it took them like 2 weeks to get the check to me.

The part that was a pain was getting them proof. THey needed like an add out of the paper r something. But this was probably 4 years ago. I'm sure you can print "proof" from an internet website or something. They didn't question me with what exactly was wrong with it either. I just told them and they didnt examine i t.

Yes it is the ram I sent. :)

No idea how it got damaged. I tested it when I got it back and it was definitely dead.

I do have a bill of sale from paypal, so hopefully that helps. Thanks for the replies.
