Getting the package to the buyer when there is insurance is always the seller's problem. I had FedEx lose a package a couple months ago. As soon as I had confirmation that it was lost, I refunded the money to the seller and handled the claim myself. Yeah, it took about two months, but oh well, that is the risk you take.

Not quite the same situation when the package is lost. Technically, the buyer never received anything and could justly call it fraud.

Yeah this whole situation was completely mishandled. The seller should have refunded you the money from the get-go, after you provided him with a written statement (and pictures if necessary) of the damages. He then files the claim with the post office and they refund him. I've only had to file once, and the claim was processed while I was in the Post Office and I was handed a money order for the full insurance amount. They did mention that if it was over a certain amount it would have needed to be sent to a regional center for processing and that can take up to 6 weeks IIRC.

The comments about how the claim should of been handled and it is my fault on the packaging is just crap replies from some of you.My reputation speaks for itself and some of the feedback in this thread is irresponsible. As of today the buyer recieved the ins. check from usps and now wants his $390 plus $125 and he still has a speaker package of mine that was part of the deal.As a seller all im entitled to refund is his $390 but im going the extra step and compensating for the time.I ve been 100% in touch with the buyer everyday he has needed me .Dont know what else to say but wow how quick some of you guys are to judge.

Your reputation doesn't speak for anything. 50+ heat, is nothing. You sold him an undamaged computer for $390. You recieved $390, where is his computer?
You should have refunded him LONG ago.
