That is obviously very heavy, your friend is trying to give usps employee some workout or what? or just a laugh??? that was pointless since bricks are hazardous material.

wtf?

Unless they're asbestos bricks, I don't think they're HAZMAT.

70 lbs is reasonable. The boxes aren't THAT large to begin with. I think the most I was able to fit in a flat rate box was about 14 lbs.

You didn't try bricks, did you? Anyway, this was AT MOST, 30lbs. That's because they were 5 5lb bricks and some CPUs (well padded, of course).

The maximum in a flat-rate box is 70lbs. However, that does not mean it is a flat rate up to 70lbs. It is a flat rate for up to several ounces. After that there are special rates based on the size. It's right on USPS's website.

Please link to that on their website........all I can find is this:

Low flat-rate shipping is also available with Priority Mail for any destination and any weight up to a 70 lb. maximum when you use either Flat Rate Envelopes or Flat Rate Boxes.
That is found on this page.

Boxes
? The Priority Mail Flat Rate Box is $7.70 for any U.S. destination.
? The inside dimensions for the two boxes available are 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" and 13.625" x 11.875" x 3.375".
? The contents of the flat rate box must be neatly contained inside of the box with adhesive packaging tape.
? The box must close securely and retain its shape when taped with adhesive.
? The shape of the box may not be changed or enlarged to fit its contents.
That is found on this page.

Priority Mail Flat Rate Box

$7.70, regardless of weight (up to a 70 lb. maximum) or destination, for matter sent in a Priority Mail Flat Rate box provided by the Postal Service.
That is found here.

I have yet to see any other restrictions on weight as you mention.
