What a pain, sent an insured package to Canada and it never got to the intended recipient so I filed a claim with USPS in August of 2001. I ended up having to send in the complete paperwork over 4 times, and finding out that my local post office can not even contact the claims department in New York (they can only contact by mail).

Yesterday, 26Oct2002, I finally received a check. 14 months later:|

What a pain in the butt.

That is funny.

"No sir I can't call them on the phone because that would prove that you need some other form of communication besides the US Postal Sevice."

Not funny, they lost a brand new Plextor 12x10x32s (SCSI) burner when the were well over $200.

Well, it is funny now....only because I finally have the check.

That's why if I send anything of value, I always use FedEx Ground and insure it. USPS sucks for insurance, I never use them for this reason.

I was LMAO at the fact that you got a check and it took 14 motnhs. Not at the fact you were out a good chunk of change. No offence intended. I appologize.

Just to be fair, USPS has to coordinate with the recipricating postal agency when it comes to international claims . I'm sure part of the blame should go to Canada Post for holding up things up.

Have we EVER known a government institution to be quick when paying out money?

Among other things, USPS has the HIGHEST insurance rates in the industry. Every other shipper is much much cheaper.

Wow, 14 months? that long? They lost your document claim forms 3 times? Why in the world would you have to file 4 times? sheesh.
Glad to hear you finally got your refund though.
