USPS damaged a rebate in transit to me. Is it still cashable?

NFS4

No Lifer
They ripped it and tore it up and taped it back. They delivered it in an envelope with a clear plastic face.

Still cashable or am I gonna have to get a new one issued?

Routing numbers are missing...no go.

EDIT: Missed the blurred out part...was that just the end of the check number that was torn off? I still think Jane Teller isn't going to take it...it'll probably make her day to be a bitch and shoot you down.

I blurred them out.

First blurry bit at the bottom is the routing number. The second one is the account number. The third is cut off. Don't know what that is.

Maybe if you explain at the bank that "USPS" damaged "your" rebate check, they'll understand 😉

j/k...if it has the account and routing number, it should be fine. The third number is probably just the check number, which is unimportant, especially because it's also above.

Yeah, the third number appears to be the check number. Shouldn't be a problem...especially if I get my usual drive-thru lady

No go man... You need the numbers I'd say

request another check. I'd had WDC resubmit another check since USPS failed to deliver it

so before posting this why didn`t you contact USPS and inform them and ask them to make the situation right?

If they told you that the situation is right then your next step could have been to contact whoever was issuing the rebate check for clarification of the situation...

Seems to me rather than asking everybody except those involved your wasting our time....

First of all, USPS is going to do jack. PERIOD.

Second of all, the banks are closed until tomorrow and the rebate company wouldn't be able to issue another check for at least a couple of weeks or so.

So why not ask here to get a concensus before I go to the bank tomorrow?

Hey wait a minute, the point of AT OT is the share the strange things that happen to each of us. Damnit, if I want to see a torn up check - I will! And the only thing stopping me is NFS4 not posting it! Rest assured Im going to let everyone know when I get damaged goods! 😉

Just fax the rebate co a photocopy of the torn up check (the original might jam up the machine). Im sure theyll happily issue you a new one. :light:

Good luck. 🙂
