USPS and a purchase on the FS/T board

I purchased a stick of RAM from a member of the board and he shipped it promptly. After checking DC, I found that they had delivered it one day. I get home and checked my mail, but there was no RAM. I let him know of the issue and called the PO. He also called the PO and talked to the carrier supervisor. I was told that the supervisor would talk to the carrier.

We heard back today that the supervisor is saying that the carrier definately remembers delivering it, and that is it.

I live in an apt. complex and there isa large bank of mailboxes. I'm 100% positive that the package was dropped in the wrong box. Who ever has it, has not returned the package, either.

So what can we do? Am I SOL?
 
how could a carrier remember a little stick of ram of all things. hopefully you have honest neighbors, other possibility is that whatever box it was placed in has not been checked yet, in that case maybe you could be home when the mailman comes and mention it then and maybe it will be found.
 
usually for an apt complex the apt manager has keys to the mailboxes and can see in all boxes at once to check for packages or whatever.
Otherwise yeah your SOL. I never get stuff delivered to my apt anymore for that EXACT reason, jsut too much room for error if have 100 boxes in one place, just get it delievered to work intead 🙂

2) The DC at times will get screwed up by the USPS. I have had packages that were DCed that could not fit in the box. After filing complaints, they showed up about 2 weeks later.

As long as the USPS says that is was delivered, it is no longer the sellers responsiblity.
 
The apartment manager certainly DOESN'T have access to the mailbox. If he does, he definitely shouldn't.

No, the complex does not have access to them. Only tenants and the PO.

Actually that is incorrect, unfortunately the seller is the one who must file for (and receive) any insurance payment.

The decent thing to do would be to allow the seller to go through the process & then forward the refund rather than demanding the money back right away.

wow that sucks. Try posting flyers near the mailboxes asking if anyone got one accidently and where to return it too. Maybe someone would be honest.

Unfortunately, no insurance in this case.

Difficult situation. If you do not mind the query, how much above $20 was the purchase price?

Unless you specifically declined insurance, I think I would place responsibility on the seller.

Confirmation & insurance should be a given in any dealings.

USPS requires a signature for insured items. Otherwise, anyone can claim that the insured item was not delivered.
For $0.50/$100 value, it is an excellent DC.

What type of memory was it?

Keep an eye open for Fry's ads. You may be able to get that type again and sent to you without chance of it being lost.

Not all true either. The seller can sign a release form for the money to go to the buyer. Been there, done that 😀
