USOC: Athletes should not display US flag at olympics

Fear of a hostile reaction has led US officials to warn its participants in the Games against overtly patriotic displays:beer:

American athletes have been warned not to wave the US flag during their medal celebrations at this summer's Olympic Games in Athens for fear of provoking crowd hostility and harming the country's already battered public image.

"What I am telling the athletes is, 'Don't run over and grab a flag and take it round the track with you.' It's not business as usual for American athletes. If a Kenyan or a Russian grabs their national flag and runs round the track or holds it high over their heads, it might not be viewed as confrontational."
Bull$hit.

The United States Olympic Committee is another corrupt international organization where the U.S. is evil?

What is the reason they told them to not show the flag? Because the United States is an evil country. They are apparently afraid for the safety of the athletes.

Unsurprisingly this went right over both of your heads.

5$ on that he won't return to this thread, they never do.

I try not to respond to ignorants like you Klixxer, and you really are spectacle in of itself. But I just wanted to let you know that I am back.

Har har har. Those "international organizations" that dislike the US. Just like the UN "hates the US." Oh wait, these organizations aren't some nebulous entity, they are composed of the world's nations. So does that mean some other nations dislike the US?

Yeah, almost everyone (including governments) hates the current US administration. Can't blame them. Half of this country hates it, too.

I think you guys are missing the point. During the last olympics, the track team was a total disgrace. During the win, they were flexing, draping the flag, and practically taunting everyone. It was poor sportsmanship. In case anyone forgot

Personally I'd be worried if a bunch of oppressive dictatorships thought we were the best country in the world.

In before "hurr hurr bush is a dictator."

I don't blame Bush for everything, but I do blame him for absolutely tarnishing the US's international image.

The entire world rabidly hates Bush and therefore to an extent, the US.

Heh - I'm not the one making the outlandish assertions:p The entire world doesn't hate Bush nor do they all hate the US. Who hates us that didn't before? Who holds positions against ours that didn't before the war?
