Hello

what is in Windows XP SP2, i wanted to buy a creative x-fi and all of them state that their requirement is Windows XP SP2 and i have got windows XP SP1, so wondering if i will end up with a non-workable soundcard.

I understood there were four main solutions from creative
X-Fi XtremeGamer
X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series
X-Fi Fatal1ty
X-Fi Elite Pro

i guess the fatal1ty and the fatal1ty pro series are one and the same thing, correct?

can you guys suggest speakers to go with the x-fi fatal1ty?

so this question comes up: why don't you have SP2? it fixes a lot of bugs in windows. get it. Yoyo know best about speakers and the Z-5500's are good. check the FS/FT and Hot Deal section.

Maybe he has one of the motherboards that doesn't support it? My MSI Neo Platinum doesn't.

i dont know why i dont have windows SP2, i will try to install it on my pc today, would my mobo (gigabyte 81875 ultra) support it?

i had checked out the creative site and did a comparison of their products, dont know much about sound systems, but wanted a 5.1 system and the break out control box looks quite cool on the fatal1ty, besides it seems to have three different modes, so i am quite keen on the fatal1ty.

hey man, the logitech is going to set me back 200 pounds,i was looking at something in the sub 100 pound area.
unless i can some how leverage the strength of the pound? (anyone know where i can get some good deals which can be shipped to the UK)
what i was thinking is compromise on the speakers for my computer and get something real cool for my tv, dvd, or should i just go for a common speaker system

while looking through the speakers, two technologies are mentioned: wired and cabled, which one is better?

The only way I know of to find out whether it will work or not with any particular motherboard, is to try it.

do you know if it is possible to buy stuff on amazon.com rather than on amazon.co.uk and ship it to the UK?

No, I don't. I wouldn't think they would do that though, since nobody in the UK would ever buy from amazon.uk again. I do know that this is a good place to buy from, if you live in the UK: http://overclockers.co.uk/

If both systems are in the same room and oriented in the same direction, getting a single system for both could be a great way to get higher quality stuff. If you are oriented so that the center (and thus all the speakers hopefully) would be in a pretty good spot for both applications, then I would recommend that rather than two lower quality systems.
I have mine optomized for HT use, but my Computer is oriented in the same direction and the speakers are in decent positions so that it works for it too.

If wired implies speaker wire and cabled implies proprietary cabling of some kind or cables with RCA ends, I would say go with wired.

Could you link an example of both? It might just be word choice and not imply any kind of real difference at all.

I-Trigue 5600 is wired whereas Inspire T5900 is cable

I didn't see anything obvious about it.

There are some systems with "wireless" rear speakers that still need to be plugged into wall outlets.

Both those sets seem to be standard speakers systems without the wireless feature though. If you want to check out the connection types, the manuals or pictures online might be your best bet for finding out the connection types for the speakers.

Another thing where "cable" / "wired" might come into play is with "remotes". Some of these systems will have a control pod attached via a cable. Some have wireless remotes. Wireless remotes will probably not come standard in this pricerange though.
