Using WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic

Just bought 2 x 2TB WD Reds for a Synology DS213. I decided to use WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for the first time to make sure there are no issues. I was disappointed with the output of the extended test. It didn't say whether there were any bad sectors. Maybe that is a good thing (i.e. there were no bad sectors)? It just showed that it passed on the extended test. The test results also just showed check marks, meaning that it worked within normal operating parameters.

Am I missing something? Any other tools you recommend to test for bad sectors?

If it passed, and it's new, you should be fine. Any bad sectors were remapped before it left the factory, giving you a net of zero. You only get to find out about sectors remapped after it has been in service.

Other HDD utilities, which display SMART data, are better to find out what's been going on over time, like Aida/Everest, Speedfan, CrystalDiskInfo, HD Tach, HD Tune, et al.
