I have a laptop, and a headless server, but in order to get some output from the server, I'd need to move around some monitors, so I was thinking: is it possible to use the VGA port of a laptop to view what's going on on my server?

I know I could VNC into the machine, but I need this bit during logon when you can't really use VNC.

Laptop's a SONY VGN-FS28GP.

It's funny, actually. I've never seen a laptop with a VGA in, ever. I would have expected at least one, sometime during the past decade, to have come out to suit the travelling techie demographic. It's a pity.

Indeed.

But there is probably one out there, just that we haven't seen it because our needs aren't so specific.

I'm sure if you ask around you'll probably find one, but it won't be nice in design.
