Using the PC Input on a VIZIO 37" LCD TV + good budget VGA card?

I recently got a Vizio VX37L - 37" LCD TV and I want to hook up my PC to it so I can also use it as a glorified web browser\media player in the living room

I currently my PC connected to it via an s-video cable and the windows image is ok... icons are still blurry and 800x600 is what the res shows.

I would really like to use the 15 pin standard VGA cable to connect the PC to the LCD TV.

I have proved that the cable is ok because my laptop connects fine while the PC give the "no supported timing" error.

So 2 questions:-
1) Are there any video cards that can do 1366 X 768 - this is what the LCD specs say it is.

2) I have s-vide, vga 15 pin, and HDMI ports... what is the best port to use that will give me the clearest picture so I can easily read text in emails and also be a good picture for dvd movies.

Thanks in advance,
Mer.

EDIT: Forgot to add that my current video card is an old ATI 32MB that had s-video out and yellow component video out - above the regular 15 pin vga.
Time for a new video card?

Sounds like you need a new video card. I have the same TV on my HTPC. I'm using a DVI-VGA adapter to a VGA cable, running 1366x768.

Note that the HDMI input on the VX37L can only accept a 720p signal, which will result in overscan on an HTPC. Your best bet for PC use is the VGA input.

I have the same TV. An ATI 32MB is probably too old. I used an X800XL at first with VGA-VGA and I get 1366x768 automatically, I did noticed a little bit of off-phasing (don't know the exact term). I'm currently using X1950Pro with VGA connection using the included DVI-VGA adapter and it's been perfect. DVI-HDMI does not work well as you can only get 1280x720 with overscan.

Not sure if your old video card supports wide screen resolution, but you can try set it to 1024x768 at 60Hz first and then connect to your TV using VGA. Don't bother with s-video. A latest low-end video card will be the answer if you don't care about playing games.
