Using the back button in Netscape, on the forums

With the new ads, when I use the back feature, Netscape 4.8 loads the top of the page, instead of where you left off. I checked in IE and it goes back to the same position from where it came. This started when the ad position was changed.

I know it's old, but I prefer it over IE.

NS4 is OLD OLD OLD and should be murdered if it's not officially dead yet.

edit: FIVE years old! Do you remember how different web design was 5 years ago? Alot! Put the beast to death!

Zuni himself has already stated something to the of Netscape 4.x is really too old to support anymore.

That doesn't necessarily mean he won't fix this problem but he is right.

Ok, then can you give me one valid reason why your ancient mesozoic era web browser is better than the latest Mozilla 1.3? Incidentally, Moz 1.3 looks and acts almost the same as NS4.8, but supports modern web standards in many cases better than IE, and works fine on 99% of the sites that I visit (which is more than can be said for NS4.8).

I wasn't flaming anything but netscape 4. It's FIVE years old. The web has changed immensely in the past 5 years, and the few people who continue to use netscape 4 are hindering the progress of the web as a whole. (although less and less. It's down to maybe 1%)

Have you even tried one of the newer browsers yet? If you haven't made an effort to keep up with the times (and that doesn't necessarily mean using IE, because there are some very nice alternatives like Mozilla, Phoenix, and Netscape), then I don't have any sympathy for you. You are only needlessly torturing yourself by not choosing to use a decent browser.

Yea, I don't see the point of demanding that the admins hack this site up so it works with an old browser that has very brain-dead implementations of some features of HTML and CSS.

Whether this thread needs a lock or not, I'm not going to waste time thinking about it. But I do know something, and that is that someone desperately needs an upgrade.

Old browser, doesn't display the site properly, while newer (not even NEWEST) browsers display it perfectly fine. You know that is why they continue making new browser versions instead of stopping when they get one that looks good.

Flaming? I wouldn't call it that. We're just telling it like it is. That is a feature that Netscape 4.8 doesn't have. Simple as that. New versions add new features.

Why do you keep insisting on an answer that you know does not exist? We have clearly explained to you a very suitable solution, but you refuse to so much as try it out (as if it would hurt, or something). You have given no reasons whatsoever as to why our solution won't work. Maybe you could explain what is wrong with the solution of upgrading to the latest Netscape or Mozilla, and then we'd know how to help you further. Until then, expect to be ignored, because your ignorant demands are impossible to fulfill.

Aside from everyone pointing out why, it's also been pointed out that Zuni doesn't give much of a damn whether NS4 works (rightly so since there are many more important things to fix).
