Using Sysprep across different kinds of computers

Anyone here use sysprep a lot for creating and deploying workstations?

Basically for our incoming class, I want to make an image which would have the basic OS, with all the security updates and some basic (site wide licensed) software like Norton Antivirus, Office XP etc.
The laptops of our incoming class are not standardized, so I expect to see stuff all over the board in terms of manufacturers, motherboards etc. (I am only talking about notebooks here).

I have created an image using sysprep with BuildMassStorageSection = yes, so that it goes and installs all the mass storage controller drivers, I also have "sysprep -clean" running in the cmdlines.txt so that all the unused device drivers get cleaned up after mini setup.

I have managed to use this one image across a variety of Dell Latitude, Inspiron laptops etc with success and am highly encouraged by this.

Sadly I don't have any non dell laptops to test this with, although I am trying to convince them to buy me atleast one to let me test it. Does anyone here have experiences with a similar situation? Ie using one image on different kinds of computers.

I do know that after hte imaging, depending on some of the makes and chipsets of the laptops, we will have to update teh drivers from either the manufacturer cd or website, but thats acceptable. As long as the computer is atleast able to boot properly from the image and be in a decent working state, so that the drivers can be updated.

Let me know if anyone has any experiences, suggestions horror stories etc to share.

Thanks
Ari
