Using Sunbeam Fan controller

Tiamat

Lifer
Is it a bad idea to disconnect the yellow wire from the 3-wire fan connector that is plugged into the Sunbeam fan controller, place the yellow wire into a spare 3-pin connector, and then hook this into the mobo fan header? I havent tried it yet, but I kind of want to monitor the fan rpm just for the hell of it.

Is this dangerous in any way?

Thx for your replies.

In other words:
Panaflo BX 92mm fan on cpu has 3 pin with rpm sensing. It is hooked up to Sunbeam fan controller.
I want to take off the rpm sensing wire from sunbeam fan controller and hook it to CPU FAN header on mobo. Safe?
