Using SCSI adapter to format SCSI drives?

for adaptec it's CTRL-A during boot to get into the SCSI adapter configuration utility, from there it allows you to format the HDs:

1)can you partition in there as well?
2)is it a good idea to use the format utility in there?

thankyou 🙂

The format utility in the SCSI controller is used only to LOW LEVEL FORMAT the hard drives. I usually do this once when I first get a new hard drive. However you shouldn't need to do this if you're only reinstalling your OS.

No you can't partition in there. In fact after you low level format, you still have to format in DOS/UNIX/etc. before you can use it.
