I have an sblive value card, and was wondering how I would go about using a headset with it. Normally, a sound card has a speaker out, line out, line in, and a mic in. However, as you all know, the sblive has two line outs- one for the front speakers, one for the rear. I have a two speaker setup, so I'm only using the front line out (line-1 I suppose). When I plug in my headset into the rear line out (line- 2), I get no sound. How do I get around this? I'm running w2k without the sbliveware.

i have a headphone jack on my new speakers , so i just plug it in there. My old set did not have a jack , so i unplugged the speakers from line1 out *(green) and plugged headphones in there whenever i used them, a little bit of a hassle, but what're you gonna do?

uh, rear line out is for rear speakers. without proper drivers, this output is not enabled. so that explains why there is no sound. they are DIFFERENT signals.

you can use a "Y" cable to plug into the front output

this

you should be able to get it in an electronics store.

Yeah, the only way you are going to get decent sound from a Live card using your headphones is to plug it into the front speaker output. Make sure you set the output to headphones from 2 speakers because it does make a difference!
