Using SATA and Promise IDE cards

I have an Asus mothreboard and am using the builtin SATA controllers to boot from. I would like to have a number of IDE hard drives as storage. I have a Promise IDE Controller.

I have a problem booting when I am using both the SATA drives and IDE drives connected to the Promise controller. Without the promise card the machine bootd great.

Make sure you follow the Promise instructions when you install the controller card. I am using an Asus P4P800-E Deluxe with XP on my SATA drive. I use a Promise Controller card for my storage hard drive and have my optical drives as master on the primary and secondary IDE. Everything worked fine from the get go.
