Using PSU without plugging into mobo?

Can you do this, just to run some additional fans and stuff? How do you switch the power on without a case switch?

connect the two green wires with a paperclip or such and it will power on when you plug it in.. use the switch on the back to turn it on and off

No, you momentarily connect green (power on) to black (ground) to turn the PSU on - if you leave them connected, the PSU will immediately shut off. You can get up to 2A of 5V on the standby line w/o turning it on.
. You should always have a load on switching PSUs, never fire it up without a load. Load should be at least 1-2A on each positive voltage rail 5, 3.3, 12 unless you don't care whether the other voltages work again.

There is only one green wire. You connect that to any of the black wires.

Some powersupplies don't have green wires - you'll have to figure out the proper pin if that's the case.

Also, the powersupply needs to be under a load to power up. One fan may not be enuf if it's a lower powered one.
