Using PC2100 DDR with A64

Can the new A64 or Opterons work with PC2100 RAM? Is there any penalty aside from using the slower memory?

I have a lot memory in my current system, and something I am thinking about is upgrade the CPU + Motherboard now, and then the memory in the future.
 
yes, they'll work, but i hear you lose about 10% in performance because of it. as long as you plan on upgrading teh memory later, then it's fine til then.
 
btw, they will not work on the opterons because the opterons require registered memory, which is hella expensive.
 
Be carefull with what kinda ram you are using, some boards are VERY picky on what type of ram they'll like.🙂
